Is OwedList legit?

Fair question — this is a space full of scams, and you should ask it about every site that talks about money. Here is everything a skeptic would want to know, in one place.

OwedList does one thing: it matches you to real, court-approved class action settlements and links you to the official claim site, where filing is free. The money never touches us. We don't file claims, we don't take a cut of your payout, and we never ask for a Social Security number or bank login — anyone who does is a scam.

Every settlement we list is verified against the official administrator's site, shows the date we last checked it, and keeps a dated log of changes. How we verify is public in our editorial policy.

Common questions

Is OwedList legit?
Yes. OwedList is an independent information service that finds class action settlements you qualify for and links you to the official claim site. Every settlement is verified against the court-appointed administrator's website before it is published, and every page shows the date it was last checked. We are not a law firm, we never file claims for you, and we never ask for your Social Security number or bank login.
What does OwedList cost?
Checking which settlements match you is free. The membership — which tracks deadlines, emails you new matches, and follows your payouts — starts at $0.99 for 1 day, then $39.99/month, cancel anytime. Filing a claim on an official settlement site is always free, with or without OwedList.
How does OwedList make money?
Only from memberships. We take nothing from law firms, settlement administrators, or claim-filing services, and no settlement can pay to be listed. That's deliberate: it means we have no reason to show you anything but settlements you actually qualify for.
What happens to my quiz answers?
Your yes/no answers are used to match you to settlements and, if you subscribe, to email you new matches. We never ask for your SSN, address, or bank details, and we never sell your information. The privacy policy spells it out.
What if I don't make my money back?
If the settlement payments you actually receive in your first year add up to less than you paid OwedList, email hello@owedlist.com and we refund the difference. You can also cancel any time from the link in your receipt email.
Who runs OwedList?
OwedList checks every settlement against the official administrator's site and the court record before it is published, and re-checks it at every stage change.
