Is this settlement legit?
Got a check, email, or postcard about a class action settlement and want to know if it's real? Type what's on it — the settlement name, the website it points to, or the company that sent it — and we'll check it against our verified data set of settlements and court-appointed administrators.
Type at least three characters. We check against every settlement and administrator in our verified data set.
The 30-second gut check for any settlement notice
- Real notices give, fake notices take. A real notice tells you about money you can claim and points to an official website. A fake one asks for money, a bank login, or your full SSN by reply.
- Filing is always free. Nobody legitimate charges a fee to file a claim or to “release” a settlement payment.
- A surprise check can be real. In many settlements, eligible people are paid automatically from company records, so a check can arrive without you ever filing. Search the case name on the check stub before cashing — but a named case, a real administrator, and a toll-free number are good signs.
- The court record settles it. Every real settlement has a case number and a court. The official settlement site lists both.
